Application
A common understanding defines application software as software specifically designed to perform particular tasks for users.
Application software, software designed to handle specific tasks for users. Such software directs the computer to execute commands given by the user and may be said to include any program that processes data for a user.

Applications vs. System software
Application software is distinguished from system software, which controls a computer’s internal functioning, chiefly through an operating system, and also controls such peripherals as monitors, printers, and storage devices.

Application, System, Tool or Software, what is what?
- “Application” is usually used when it comes to one or more standalone program modules that communicate directly with the users. The tasks we perform with applications are usually business and administrative.
- An application on premise or online
- One “system” is an integrated solution to an organizational problem. Therefore, you cannot call the software, application or tool a system.
- Do not confuse with a Framework
- A “tool” is software that is not part of the end user’s business processes. Generally, a “tool user” is required.
- A tool supports the work
