Papers

  • Short Papers: Submissions of 5,000 words or less.
  • Standard-Length Papers: Submissions between 5,000 and 12,000 words (about 7,000-8,000 words on average).

The average length of CHI papers is approximately 7,000–8,000 words, excluding references, figure/table captions, and appendices.

  • Thursday, July 31, 2025: Submission site open
  • Thursday, September 4, 2025: Abstract/metadata deadline (title, abstract, authors, subcommittee choices, and other metadata; please note that changes on authors are NOT allowed after this date for the whole review and publication process)
  • Thursday, September 11, 2025: Full paper deadline

Note that the use of any references marked “anonymous” is grounds for desk rejection.
